New to Environ? Start Here: A Beginner’s Guide to Environ Skincare
If you’re new to Environ, figuring out where to start can feel overwhelming. With different product ranges, Vitamin A levels, serums, moisturizers, and targeted treatments, you may be wondering: Which Environ products do I actually need?
The good news is that Environ is designed to be introduced progressively. You don’t need an extensive routine from day one. The goal is to establish the right foundation for your skin and build from there.
What Is Environ Skincare?
Environ is a professional skincare brand founded by plastic surgeon Dr. Des Fernandes. At the heart of the Environ philosophy is Vitamin A, supported by ingredients such as antioxidants, vitamins C and E, peptides, and other targeted ingredients.
What makes Environ particularly unique is its approach to Vitamin A. Instead of starting with the strongest formula available, Environ encourages the skin to become gradually accustomed to increasing levels of Vitamin A through its Vitamin STEP-UP SYSTEM™️.
This allows your skincare routine to evolve progressively as your skin becomes comfortable with each level.
Why Is Vitamin A So Important?
Vitamin A is one of the cornerstones of the Environ philosophy.
Environ incorporates Vitamin A into its skincare systems to help support the appearance of healthy-looking skin and improve the appearance of concerns such as:
* Fine lines and visible signs of aging
* Uneven skin tone
* Sun-damaged appearance
* Dryness and dehydration
* Dullness
* Uneven texture
But with Environ, stronger doesn’t automatically mean better.
The goal is to introduce Vitamin A at an appropriate level and gradually progress rather than immediately starting with a more advanced formula.
What Is the Vitamin STEP-UP SYSTEM™️?
Think of Environ’s Vitamin STEP-UP SYSTEM™️ as a skincare journey.
Start → Adjust → Progress
You begin at a Vitamin A level appropriate for your skin. Once your skin has become comfortable with that level, you can gradually progress through the system.
Your appropriate starting point can depend on your current skincare routine, previous Vitamin A or retinoid use, sensitivity, skin condition, and goals.
We’ll explain this system in much greater detail—including AVST levels 1 through 5—in our Environ Vitamin STEP-UP SYSTEM™️ Guide.
Where Should I Start With Environ?
You don’t need ten products to begin.
For most beginners, the goal is to establish a simple, consistent foundation before introducing multiple targeted products.
1. Cleanse
Start with a cleanser appropriate for your skin type to remove makeup, sunscreen, excess oil, and daily impurities.
2. Tone
Follow with an appropriate Environ toner to complement your cleansing routine and prepare your skin for the products that follow.
3. Introduce Vitamin A
Vitamin A is the foundation of the Environ system. Start with the appropriate introductory level for your individual skin rather than choosing a product simply because it contains a higher concentration.
4. Target Your Concerns
Once your foundational routine is established, targeted products can be introduced based on concerns such as aging, pigmentation, congestion, dehydration, or sensitivity.
5. Protect
Finish your morning routine with broad-spectrum sunscreen.
A Simple Beginner Environ Routine
Your individual routine may vary, but a simple starting point can look like this:
MORNING
Cleanse → Tone → Environ Vitamin A System → SPF
EVENING
Pre-Cleanse if needed → Cleanse → Tone → Environ Vitamin A System
Once your skin is comfortable with the basics, you can incorporate additional serums and targeted products based on what your skin actually needs.
More products don’t necessarily mean better results. Consistency and choosing the right products for your skin are what matter.
Skin EssentiA®️ or Youth EssentiA®️?
You’ll see these two ranges frequently when shopping Environ.
Skin EssentiA®️ is Environ’s foundational Vitamin A system and includes the progressive Vita-Antioxidant AVST Moisturisers 1–5.
Youth EssentiA®️ is Environ’s premium Vitamin A system, combining vitamins, antioxidants, and peptides with a particular focus on maintaining the appearance of youthful, healthy-looking skin.
Neither is automatically the “better” range.
The right choice depends on your skin, concerns, goals, previous Vitamin A use, and the type of routine you’re looking to build.
We’ll break down the differences in our dedicated Skin EssentiA®️ vs. Youth EssentiA®️ Guide.
What Should I Expect When Starting Environ?
Environ should be approached as a long-term skincare system rather than a quick fix.
Give your skin time to adjust to your routine before adding multiple new products or increasing your Vitamin A levels.
Your results and timeline will vary depending on your skin, concerns, consistency, products, lifestyle, and other factors.
The goal is not to progress through Environ as quickly as possible. The goal is to build a routine your skin responds well to and progress appropriately from there.
